A Note to Bridge Players
The format for The Wednesday Game has changed, starting in 2012. The monthly Wednesday Game is no more, and is replaced by The Post Mortem. It's a less comprehensive offering, and takes the form of a two-page hand-out which analyzes the most interesting hands of the day. But instead of just once a month, The Post Mortem will be available on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, every week! That's 9 or 10 special games a month, instead of just the one. The Post Mortem is also published online, integrated with links to the extensive Wednesday Game Archives and Convention Library.
There is no charge for The Post Mortem service, so if your Bridge Club is not yet a participating club, please have a stern word with your Director or Club Manager.
The primary service to the players is the two-sided Post Mortem sheet, and if your Club provides that after the game then going on-line to www.wednesdaygame.com is not strictly essential. Having said that, a web version of each Post Mortem is posted on this site, augmented with the links mentioned above, allowing you to research puzzling or interesting topics in more depth. Alas, as we are providing that service to the players, we need to protect it with a password. This is only active during the day that the set is “live”, just as The Wednesday Game used to operate. As before, that password is printed on the Hand Records. The reason for this password arrangement is that the Post Mortem hands are played at different times around the country, and their integrity must be protected.
Now, a few words about that password, using Monday as an example. Early on Monday (EST) we post the web version of The Post Mortem, but implement a password, just for that small part of the web-site. When you have finished your Post Mortem game, you'll pick up your Hand Records as usual (also your Post Mortem sheet, if available), on which will be printed the day's password. On Tuesday morning the password is removed.
Enjoy The Post Mortem, let us know what you think! |
